Trails and Other Park Projects
- Kicked off construction of CTC Trail segment along Surf Cup lease, named CTC Trail at Rio Run
- Continued design of 13 miles of CTC Trail gaps in East San Pasqual Valley and Sutherland area
- Collaborated with Del Mar staff to add Reach the Beach Trail to Living Levee project design
- Repaired trail washout and detour along CTC Trail at Horsepark in collaboration with 22nd DAA and HITS and reopened trail to the public
- Continued progress on final engineering for Osuna CTC Trail
- Contributed $10K to County Parks for preliminary engineering study of CTC San Dieguito Road Pathway project
- Continued permitting and design on Sikes Pavillon project funded by Escondido Community Foundation
Habitat Conservation and Restoration
- Continued coastal cactus wren habitat restoration project at Bernardo Mnt funded by SANDAG Environmental Mitigation Program
- Conducted management and maintenance tasks at eight Habitat Management Areas including species surveys, weed control, and native plantings
- Continued restoration/maintenance of 4-acre Pamo mitigation site
- Collaborated with San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy and Rancho Santa Fe Association for Arroyo Preserve invasive species removal project
Community Outreach and Education
- Hosted the Spring Break Watershed Explorer Program Camp funded by State Outdoor Equity Grant benefiting over 500 youth. A day at Volcan Mountain, San Diego Archaeological Society, Sikes Adobe, the San Dieguito Lagoon and an overnight at Surprise Farm Retreat Center
- Partnered with Ecologik to conduct water quality testing throughout the park
- Delivered interpretive presentations at Poway Plant Club, Free Flight and Palomar Environmental Club
- Participated in the California State Parks FamCamp and the Environmental Educators Leadership Summit
- Facilitated field trips at Lake Hodges, Sikes Adobe, and the San Dieguito Lagoon
- Led historical and interpretive tours at Sikes Adobe for the Historical Society, senior centers, school groups and community members
- Successfully hosted San Diego Native Plant Sale and Master Gardeners, and held first Artisan Fair at Sikes Adobe
- Held Valentines Tea and Harvest Tea at Sikes Adobe
- Participated in community outreach events including Grape Day Fair, Poway Farmers Market, Children’s Museum Nature Night and Indigenous Peoples’ Earth Day
- Established a new Artisan Fair at Sikes Adobe, expanding community engagement and support for local makers
- Worked with students from CSUSM on their capstone projects
- Created and installed new kiosks
- Led guided tours and hikes throughout SDRP and weekly tours of Sikes Adobe Farmhouse.
- Hosted bike/run events including BWR, Filthy50, and ultra marathon
- Held monthly volunteer trail maintenance and habitat restoration events, continued weekly group for Sikes Adobe gardens, and held 3 Volunteer Enrichments
- Held 2025 Volunteer Appreciation Party at Felicita County Park
- Participated in international BioBlitz and partnered with the San Diego tracking team to install new camera traps
- SDRP projects and trails recognized throughout year in several media publications
- SDRP volunteers donated over 2000 hours
