Endowment Fund
Through the kindness of Russell and Lydia Hogan, the Park received a bequest which was used to establish an endowment fund to help ensure the future of the San Dieguito River Park. The San Dieguito River Park’s Endowment Fund established in 1997 is held and managed at the San Diego Foundation according to a sound investment policy. Dividends from this fund supports our operations – managing open space to support San Diego County’s renowned biodiversity, maintaining the trails you love, and ensuring the Park continues to thrive for future generations.
Trails Fund
The Trails Fund is used for construction and maintenance of trails including the Coast to Crest Trail, and for purchasing tools and equipment for our park ranger crew. If you appreciate the over 70 miles of trails throughout the San Dieguito River Park, then please donate to this fund and your donations will support our trails system. The trail system positively contributes to the lives of the thousands of people who live, work in, and visit San Diego and who use these trails for outdoor exercise, enjoyment, and nature education.
Donate a Plank Program
For $300, you can add a plaque to the San Dieguito Lagoon Boardwalk in the name or text of your choice. Each plaque is numbered so that you can easily find it and show it to your friends. Proceeds go to the River Park to install interpretive signage along the Coast to Crest Trail at the San Dieguito Lagoon, to extend the trail, and to restore wetland habitat.
Wherever Funds Are Needed Most
The main option to make monetary donations to the River Park is via our secure PayPal page. Funds can be specified for any of the programs, or be left undesignated to be used as needed.
Habitat Restoration Fund
The JPA’s park rangers with the help of volunteers remove invasive weeds and restore habitat throughout the San Dieguito River Park. Funds are needed for purchasing soil amendments, plants, seeds and in some cases for hired labor. Contributions to this fund will assist in restoring coastal sage scrub, wetlands, and other native habitats that support our local wildlife.
Support Our Partners
We encourage you to become a supporting member of our 501(c)(3) partner, the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy. Your membership fee will support the Conservancy’s community outreach and land acquisition efforts. To learn more about becoming a member, visit the Conservancy’s Membership page at www.sdrvc.org.
The Friends of Sikes Adobe is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 2013. Their goal is to preserve and interpret the Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead, a rare 19th century home owned and managed by the San Dieguito River Park, and its importance in the early San Diego North County farming community.
