On Thursday October 24, 2013, the ground was broken for Phase Two of the San Dieguito Lagoon Open Air Classroom project. Dan Crown of Southwest General Contractors of Escondido, who will be the contractor for this phase, provided the shovels for the occasion.
Kids from the 3rd grade at Del Mar Ocean Air School joined in the fun. They had a hike led by Interpretive Ranger Leana Bulay, then they turned in electronics to be recycled at the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation. They all received plants by Miss Smarty Plants from the Water Conservation Garden to take home.
