Finding Great Photography Sites at the San Dieguito Lagoon

Home - San Dieguito Lagoon - Finding Great Photography Sites at the San Dieguito Lagoon

August 14, 2014
Posted by: Shawna Anderson

Jim Coffee led a group of folks who wanted to explore places at the San Dieguito Lagoon to take great photographs. We started at the Birdwing Open Air Classroom, where Jim talked about key photographic techniques to remember. Then we hiked east along the Coast to Crest Trail to the section of trail near Horsepark where the river moves in close and offers good photo opportunities. Then the group caravanned to the remaining stops, where we piled out and hiked to good vantage points. We went to the Dust Devil Nature Trail, the Overlook Park at High Bluff, Crest Canyon Trail, the Lagoon Viewpoint at the Grand Avenue Overlook, finally ending with dramatic views from the Del Mar Bluff.

Here are a few photos from the day (all taken by Bill Carter):

Not all views on the trail are wildlife – this is a picture of a horse and rider at Horsepark.

Wow, what a view from the Del Mar Bluff!
