Natural Resources and Conservation Manager

The San Dieguito River Park is proud to announce the appointment of Nico de Paolo as its new Natural Resources and Conservation Manager!

Nico brings more than 15 years of experience in natural resource conservation, restoration, and public land management, having worked as a park ranger, preserve manager, and restoration crew leader across both public and private sectors in California.

Nico earned his B.A. in Environmental Studies and Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and holds an M.S. in Geographic Information Sciences and Remote Sensing.

Nico first joined the River Park in 2014 as a Park Ranger, beginning a connection with the Park that has continued to grow over the years. He later departed to pursue a decade of additional professional experience in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties, further expanding his knowledge and expertise in natural resources and conservation.

Late last year, Nico returned to the River Park, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a renewed commitment to its mission. His extensive knowledge, familiarity with the River Park, and deep dedication to its preservation make him a valuable addition to the team. As Natural Resources and Conservation Manager, Nico will play an important role in advancing the Park’s conservation efforts, protecting its diverse habitats and wildlife, and ensuring that these treasured natural lands remain healthy and thriving for generations to come.

We are delighted to welcome Nico into this new leadership role and look forward to the knowledge, passion, and vision he will bring to the future of the San Dieguito River Park!
