Shawna Anderson was unanimously selected by the JPA Board of Directors on November 20, 2020 as the San Dieguito River Park’s new Executive Director. Shawna has been the JPA’s Principal Planner since 2000 and brings her depth of experience to the organization’s lead position.
As the JPA’s planner, she was responsible for bringing many San Dieguito River Park trails and public assets to fruition and has recently brought in over $2M in grant awards. Prior to joining the SDRP, she was an environmental planning consultant specializing in CEQA and habitat and land use planning. “One of my primary goals as the JPA’s Executive Director is completing the Coast to Crest Trail. Our member agencies and park partners aim to finish the remaining 23 miles of this 71-mile long unique recreational treasure”, Shawna says.
She also wants to boost SDRP recognition and exposure and continue the JPA’s efforts in education and outreach. She leads a team of eleven park staff and will have the responsibility of directing and managing all park operations, acquisition and development, maintaining park assets, and planning new capital projects under the direction of the JPA’s Board of Directors.
