Volunteers from the San Diego Mountain Biking Association, Del Mar Rotary, JPA boardmembers, and other volunteers worked with San Dieguito River Park rangers to improve a new section of the Coast to Crest Trail in December along the former polo fields east of El Camino Real.
The 1.3-mile long section of Coast to Crest Trail is being improved for future connections to a new bridge at the east end and a future trail undercrossing at El Camino Real (to be built by City of San Diego). For now, the trail section along what is now Surf Cup Sports is better defined with a smooth wider surface for multi-use (hikers, cyclists, and equestrians). Future work will include trail fencing, signage, and habitat restoration.
