Palomar Audubon Society Trip Leaders guide birders around different areas of Lake Hodges, like Del Dios Community Park, the Boat Dock, and Bernardo Bay, every year in spring and fall. The list of bird species seen is then posted on the PAS website .

SDRP has compiled the lists since October 2013 into a PDF document.
57 bird species were identified in March 2018, and all of them have been seen before. The cumulative total over the past 15 bird walks remains at 127 different species.
American White Pelicans are a common sight at Lake Hodges during winter, and this year we had 2 tagged pelicans visit.
The first pelican was tagged at Gunnison Island in Utah as a juvenile on August 18, 2017, and the pelican in the featured photo was tagged at Blackfoot Reservoir in Idaho as a flightless juvenile on August 1, 2017.
If you see a tagged pelican or other banded bird, you can report it to reportband.gov.
